Another very successful trail event this summer!
Kendal’s Cumbrian Adventure
The theme this year was ‘Kendal’s Cumbrian Adventure’ to highlight as many interesting facts and unique Cumbrian quirks as possible, and really highlight everything our county has to offer. Feedback from businesses and trail participants was that the theme was clever as it was educational as well as fun, and the adults on the trail enjoyed learning about Cumbria as much as the kids enjoyed finding the pictures and getting the treats!
176 local businesses took part
We never struggle to attract businesses to take part, and this year was no exception with 176 local businesses taking part and displaying a picture to find. With a number of new businesses taking part this year.
Great for additional footfall around Kendal
Due to the size of the BID area and that all businesses are approached for an equal chance to be included, it means the trail is often too big to complete in one go, and therefore families are often coming back two or three times to finish it off. This is great for additional footfall around Kendal. Many of the places giving out the trail maps required top-ups due to the popularity of the trail.
Winners from all over the country
A lovely array of winners were chosen at random each week from the entries handed in at Booths. In total, we had over 300 entries which is only a fraction of all trail participants. There were 5000 maps printed with only a couple of hundred left as surplus.
The weekly competition gave us 8 winners:
- Elodie age 6, from Windermere Road, Kendal
- Arabella age 8, from Huddersfield (grandparents own Finkles in Kendal)
- Saskia age 7 from Billericay, Essex
- Zoe age 9 from Sheffield
- Luca age 6 from Briarigg, Kendal
- Todd age 7 from Harrogate
- Megan age 11 from Oxenholme
- Imogen age 6 from Larch Grove, Kendal
An event that business and families across Kendal look forward to
There were many posts on Facebook, particularly Kendal Everything by people enjoying the trail, and it was noticeable around town that there were families taking part in the trail.
Big thanks to Amy and the all of the other organisers for making the trail an increasing success each year.
